JUI Leaders Killed in Attack in Khuzdar, Balochistan

Khuzdar: Unknown armed assailants killed Jamiat Ulama-e-Islam (JUI) leaders Wadera Ghulam Sarwar Musiani and Maulvi Amanullah in an attack on Saturday night in the Tarsani area of Zehri district.

According to Assistant Commissioner Zehri, Khalid Shams, the attack occurred at around 9 PM when Wadera Ghulam Sarwar was returning home with three others. The attackers ambushed their vehicle, killing Sarwar and Maulvi Amanullah, while two others sustained injuries.

Wadera Ghulam Sarwar had earlier visited Surab to express solidarity with families protesting against the enforced disappearance of nine individuals from Zehri. The protestors had blocked the Quetta-Karachi highway in protest.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the attack, but the motives behind it remain unknown.

Wadera Ghulam Sarwar was the son of former JUI leader and minister Wadera Abdul Khaliq.

JUI’s central spokesperson, Aslam Ghauri, strongly condemned the killings, stating that a deliberate plan was targeting members of their party and religious figures. He alleged that JUI was being punished for its commitment to democracy.

Later this week, a central leader of another JUI faction JUI-S, Hamid Ul Haq, was killed in a suicide bomb attack in his madrasa at Akora Khattak Nowshehra on Friday.
